Casual improv classes for beginners

Our Monday night classes are a COMBO DEAL where you get a ticket to the class as well as a ticket to the Improv Comedy Cagefight - Sydney’s best improvised comedy show.
The class will have you laughing nonstop as you do a bunch of hilarious improv games that are designed for beginners.
The class starts at 6pm and is at The Bank Hotel, Newtown.
It finishes at 7pm and then there is a 30-minute break for drinks, food and mingling. We have a MeetUp table where you can hang out and meet new people.
At 7:30pm, the show begins. The Cagefight is Sydney’s longest-running comedy battle. It is WILD!
Your ticket includes both the class and the show.
This is a great experience to come with a mate, date, or as someone solo! You’ll have a tonne of fun, lots of laughs, and get to meet some great people.

This class is jam-packed full of laughs!
We have been running the class for two years and always get a mix of newcomers and regulars.
The class is 90-minutes of nonstop fun! It is at 6:30pm in Chippendale, a short walk from Central station. It is at The Abercrombie Hotel (opposite UTS).
In each class we run through a series of hilarious games that have the added benefit of helping you to be a more confident public speaker and storyteller.
During the class you’ll be in small groups that will continuously change and rotate, so you’ll get to know everyone there.
After the class, we have food, drinks and mingling - you’re welcome to join us!
How our classes work
➤ Drop-in: There is no minimum commitment to our classes, come any time.
➤ Beginner focus: Our classes cater specifically for beginners, including people who are new to improv and those who are returning after a long break.
➤ Underpinned by public speaking: These classes are designed to help you to be more confident in your communications ability in social and workplace interactions.
➤ Six rotating topics: Each week we focus on a different activity, including techniques to think quickly on your feet and how to quickly win over people around you.
➤ Humour & fun: We prioritise humour, fun and exploring your humorous story-telling ability over theatre and acting techniques.
➤ Social: Our classes always end with drinks and mingling, you’re welcome to join if you’d like to get to know others in the class.
➤ Not embarrassing: All of our activities involve group-work, and you won’t be put on the spot or asked to do something embarrassing in front of others.

Combine your class with a comedy show
Join this class for an hour of fun and then get to watch the pros in Sydney’s best improvised comedy show - the Improv Comedy Cagefight.
In this 60-minute class you will learn improvisation and meet new people.
Then, when you watch the pros in the Cagefight, you’ll have greater insight (and appreciation) about their performances.
Between the end of the class and the beginning of the show, we have a 30-minute break for drinks and food at our MeetUp table.
This class and show combo deal is great for dates, mates, solo travellers and more.

Improv classes that you will love
Every Wednesday we have a 90-minute class that is perfect for beginners.
In this class you will learn improvisation techniques and how you can use them in every-day scenarios to be more confident in your public speaking and storytelling.
There are six topics and you can join any time!
There are over eight terms of exercises so you’ll have to come for more than a year before you repeat a class.
Topics include:
➤ Techniques to think more quickly on your feet
➤ Ways to win over others more rapidly
➤ Shortcuts to building effective teamwork
➤ Methodologies to organically deepen conversations
➤ Presenting with greater impact
➤ Taking action to generate fun around you
Timings: The class is at 6:30pm Wednesday, followed by drinks and mingling at 8:00pm.

What is in our improv classes
In our improv classes you will complete 8-12 different games.
Classes are MAXIMUM FUN, and will have you laughing nonstop.
You will learn skills that will help you to be quicker on your feet, improve your presentation skills, reduce your fear of public speaking, and enhance your confidence when meeting new people.
Everything is made up on the spot. You don’t need to prepare anything.
We are different from improv theatre schools in Sydney. This is because we use applied improvisation. We will help you improve your communication skills, by using elements of sketch comedy, improv theatre, Theatresports and even stand-up comedy.

Nervous? Here’s how to prepare for a class
Everyone gets nervous when trying something new for the first time.
Rest assured that we ALWAYS have complete beginners at each of our classes.
Our teachers will never make you do anything that you don’t want to do.
You won’t ever be put on the spot as every activity involves group games
If you’re unsure about coming alone, bring a friend - our classes are way better if you have a mate (or date!) with you.
